"Made Pony is a red non-vintage, Bordeaux-style wine.
It is made from a unique blend of barrels of wine from multiple vintages in the cellar that while were very good, just did not have a home in the other blends. I decided to blend these multiple barrels together and the result is Made Pony. A unique Trione wine."
- Scot Covington, Winemaker.
We bottled 429 cases of Made Pony.
Complex and intriguing on the nose. The first impression is clean but rich and inviting. The palate is supple with hints of crusty bread and a soft ripe brie. The wine finishes long with hints of orange zest, honey and almonds. This wine have a long life aging beautifully for the next 5-7 years.
Great for a hostess gift or for a dinner party!
Winemaker Scot Covington’s Tasting Notes
Aromas of rich green tea, clove, and allspice are shown in the nose. The palate is firm but balanced with flavors of sandalwood, cedar, and redwood forest. The wine is rich with silky yet firm tannins coupled with hints of smoked meats. This opens up in the glass and keeps giving and giving.
Aromas of briarwood and pipe tobacco give way to blackberry pie, toasted macaroons and plums. The wine is velvety, supple and rich with a long, satisfying finish. This Zinfandel, a Sonoma County classic, will continue to age for many years to come.
Sublime images of a beautiful spring day are the first images that come to mind. Crisp, floral entry, with rose petals, a briny sea breeze with a citrus /lime finish. This wine would pair with many summer dishes from fresh oysters to ceviche. Drink now!
Brambly blackberries and currants are the first fruit impressions that come to mind. The 2013 Trione Primitivo is rich and luscious with notes of briar patch and cigar box, elegant and velvety on the palate and finish. This wine is a beautiful Summer red wine. Drink now or cellar for the next 3-5 years.
Coastal notes of sea air, forest floor and blackberry brambles; a top down trip to Jenner by the sea, black cherries, hints of truffle and sage. This wine is muscular but balanced and displays long aging potential, 10-15 years.
Elegant yet dense and complex, allspice and hints of clove. This wine is silky but best described as finely detailed. The first impression is shy but then the palate opens to a medley of black currant, tobacco and vanilla bean. The finish is superbly balanced with polished silky tannins and background hints of dusty cinnamon and spice.
